From Dr. Alan Sams
I am honored to serve as the Provost of this great institution. I have spent 30 rewarding years as a faculty member and administrator here, teaching students, conducting research and helping faculty. My wife and I raised our family in the Brazos Valley, and we proudly celebrated them earning their Texas A&M diplomas.
This university is embedded in my heart, and in my family, and I am honored to serve our Fightin’ Texas Aggie students, faculty and staff as the provost and executive vice president, and chief academic officer.
Texas A&M University’s reputation as a preeminent institution of higher learning and our standing as the state’s only land-, sea- and space-grant university allows us to offer affordable and transformative educational opportunities with globally significant impacts – possible only because of the quality of our students and the outstanding faculty who are our greatest asset.
The academic and administrative division leaders comprising the Office of the Provost organization include the deans of 16 colleges and schools, the Divisions of Academic Affairs, Faculty Affairs and Research, Professional Programs, the Graduate and Professional School, Enrollment Management, Global Engagement and the University Libraries. Together we ensure that our students are supported and successful in their academic pursuits, faculty are empowered in teaching, research and scholarship, and that Texas A&M is delivering world-class education.
This is a pivotal time to serve as provost. The expansive academic enterprise at this great university is a catalyst for producing brilliant things – highly sought-after graduates, impactful research, extraordinary faculty achievements, ambitious scholarship, teaching and learning innovations, and an unparalleled student experience – to name a few. Texas A&M’s reputation affirms the excellence in each of those areas and yet we continue to push the boundaries and challenge ourselves with an unrelenting drive to raise the bar and push further.
Texas A&M is a great choice for you to pursue your potential, and I look forward to seeing you flourish as part of this great institution.
Sincerely,
Alan
